Who We Share Data With

We share data only with service providers required to operate the site. These act as data processors and handle your data only on our instructions:

  • MailerLite — newsletter delivery. Stores your email and sends our newsletter. Based in the European Union, operating under a Data Processing Agreement compliant with UK and EU GDPR.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with any third party for marketing purposes.

International Data Transfers

Some service providers process data outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK GDPR, including Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision issued by the UK government.

Cookies

Our website currently uses only essential cookies required for the site to function. These do not require your consent.

We do not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies at this time. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and request your consent before any non-essential cookies are set.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct any data that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Delete your data (the "right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict how we process your data

  • Withdraw consent at any time — this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal
  • Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
  • Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

RHISE is written for adults. Our stories are drawn from real historical events and frequently contain themes that are not appropriate for children — including violence, crime, death, war, and other difficult subject matter. The site and newsletter are not intended for, and should not be used by, anyone under the age of 16.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a minor has subscribed to our newsletter, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete their data.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption in transit and trusted third-party providers for storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to minimise the risk of unauthorised access.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be communicated to active subscribers via email.
